Best Business Hotel Loyalty Program for Reaching Elite Status 2016-2017
Best Business Hotel Loyalty Program for Reaching Elite Status:
Surprised by this decision? Well, read this carefully – Loews’ loyalty members reach the pinnacle of the YouFirst rewards program after just 10 stays in a calendar year.
That’s Platinum status in just 10 stays. And that means free premium room upgrades, guaranteed accommodation within 24-hours’ notice, free internet, complimentary spa, golf and food/beverage credits of $100 every time you stay, and priority check-in and check-out. Also, it’s worth noting that if you stay for more than 5 nights your trip counts as two stays, a nice bonus if you’re in town on a longer-term project.
Now, we understand there’s a limit to what a chain like Loews can offer when they have only 24 properties on their books, and they sadly don’t offer free nights as a reward. But, if you’re frequently travelling between major US cities for business, it’s nice to know you’ll be the star attraction when you arrive.
And those hotels that are on the list are pretty impressive.
If you’re headed for New York, Boston, Chicago, Philly, California, or Florida (among others), the Loews luxury hotels do offer unique and quite charming alternative to the check-in, have a drink, sleep, breakfast, and check-out business travel routine.
That’s what the YouFirst program offers. It’s about placing your savings in a better night’s sleep, and a better experience, rather than gaining a free stay here and there.
If you’re thinking in dollar terms, those Loews savings can add up just as quickly as a free night anyway. Platinum members, for example, are offered a free suite upgrade at a number of hotels, and the cost difference there from a standard or even deluxe setting into a suite is measured in hundreds of dollars.
But there’s always going to be a downside to so limited a network. For starters, that network actually shrinks once you remove the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando and the Cabana Bay Beach Resort which aren’t included in the YouFirst program.
And some of the little perks that should come with a dedicated program are missing. Breakfast isn’t included, which is going to be a major disappointment for many, on both a cost and comfort front. And while the Loews website brags of the special welcome elite members enjoy, we’ve seen more than a few comments from guests saying the little niceties you’d expect – such as complimentary in-room chocolates and wine – have been scaled back in recent years.
Because Loews deals in rewards as opposed to points, you’ll also miss out on the knock-on advantages that come from combining credit card, frequent flyer, and partner purchases and redemptions. Loews does throw up special partner offers but the online grumbling suggests these are a little hard to define, and not something you can depend upon.
What Loews does offer is a rapid rise up the elite status ladder, and, once there, some great ways to travel in luxury without the exclusive price tags. It’s the fastest path to the suite life you’ll find out there.
You can achieve your elite status without breaking the bank. At JetLux, you have access to corporate discounts up to 40% off at the nation’s leading hotels, while keeping all the points and perks of full price. Sign up today to get on the path of being elite.
